The FIMI 2026 Report states that the Italian market has soared past half a billion euros. That’s a 10.7% growth – double the global average.

Everyone is rightly celebrating, but let’s take a good look under the hood.

The data tells a much deeper story: while revenues are rising, sustainability for those “in the middle” is collapsing.

Here is what I found digging through the numbers:
➡️ The 3 Million Trap: If you don’t generate at least 3 million streams a year, you won’t even take home a thousand euros a month. Music today has an extremely low barrier to entry, but an incredibly high barrier to survival.
➡️ The Eclipse of the New: Catalog tracks account for 84% of consumption. Are we monetizing the past while underinvesting in the future?
➡️ The Illusion of Democracy: 51,000 tracks with over 200k streams might seem like a lot, but 0.2% of the content is devouring 80% of the pie.

In my today’s article on LinkedIn I have taken a deep dive into how the industry is changing its skin and why, now more than ever, you are either a strong identity or just statistical noise.
