Rosario Pellecchia puts it bluntly in his book “Le balene mangiano da sole”. And let’s admit it: in our sector, we are the first to roll out the red carpet when that guest knocks on the door.
We pop bottles, we “hit the gong” in the office (as I like to do), we enjoy the reflection of the platinum records, and we watch the numbers rise as if they were never going to stop.
Then, one day, we wake up and the room is empty. The guest left without saying goodbye.
And we stay there, staring at the crumpled sheets and the confetti on the floor. We often spend months wondering where we went wrong, or worse, we stay motionless waiting for the phone to ring again with another hit.
We often forget that success is only an accelerator, not the finish line: if we didn’t build while the house was full…
➡️ a solid structure
➡️ a long-term strategy
➡️ a team that knows what to do even when the lights go out we find ourselves with nothing but a pile of memories in our hands.
Of course, we won’t be the first or the last… in the music industry, I’ve seen plenty of rooms devastated by success that no one knew how to put back in order anymore.
Today, for professionals, the challenge is learning how to prepare the room before the guest arrives.
