“Forget it, Andrea Corelli doesn’t know s**t about music anyway.” A bit like Elvis Presley. And maybe the point is that you don’t need to.

During the holidays, I picked up this fun book by John Niven again, featuring that Elvis quote.

And it reminded me of the time when, at a music major, a colleague forwarded me a demo. The link had expired; I asked to have it resent, and the producer replied like this: “Forget it, Andrea Corelli doesn’t know s**t about music anyway.”

How many times have I had this feeling? Often.

Like when, in meetings, I am the only one among many highly opinionated voices to believe in a specific project. Yet they look at me, and I feel like they’re thinking: he doesn’t know s**t about music.

I’ve worked with music my whole life. So? Perhaps it’s because music doesn’t follow predictable logic.

And I realized that when I feel those vibrations, I must follow them. I have always fought for those vibrations and, often, I’ve even been right…

Moral of the story: it doesn’t matter if you are the only one who believes in it.

Fight your battle. We are in good company… you, me, and Elvis!
